Below is a review of the movie “The Hobbit” written in Thai for learners to practice reading real, short texts by native speakers.
[Dec 2012] I saw The Hobbit the other day and apparently, so did my assistant. Just like before, give the text a go as is before clicking through to the google doc with the vocabulary. The only way to get better is to challenge yourself. While this entry may have a few words you don’t know, it shouldn’t be too tough.

วันนี้เป็นวันเสาร์ ฉันตื่นนอนประมาณ 9:00 โมงเช้า หลังจากนั้นฉันก็ทำความสะอาดบ้าน และซักผ้า ต่อจากนั้นฉันก็อาบน้ำแต่งน้ำ ขับรถไปโรบินสัน เพื่อไปจองตั๋วหนังเรื่องฮอบบิทได้รอบ 6 โมงเย็น ในระบบ 3 มิติ 3 ที่นั่ง เพราะจะมีเพื่อนฉันอีกสองคนที่ไปดูหนังด้วยกัน
หลังจากนั้นฉันก็ไปร้านทำผม เพื่อไปสระผม เพราะร้านทำผม เขาจะนวดศรีษะทำให้รู้สึกผ่อนคลาย ฉันชอบมาก หลังจากทำผมเสร็จก็ไปห้องสมุดที่มหาวิทยาลัย เพื่อไปยืมหนังสือ เพราะจะมีสอบในวันอังคารที่จะถึงนี้
เวลาประมาณ 5 โมงเย็น ฉันได้นัดเจอเพื่อนๆ ที่โรบินสัน เราได้กินข้าวกันก่อน เพราะความยาวของหนังประมาณสามชั่วโมงครึ่ง และเราก็ได้ซื้อป็อปคอนไว้ทานเล่นกันด้วย
พอถึงเวลาประมาณ 5:50 น. เราก็เดินเขาไปยังโรงหนัง ตรงด้านหน้าทางเขาโรงหนังทุกคนก็จะได้รับแว่นตา 3 มิติ มีเพื่อนฉันคนหนึ่งเขาใส่แว่นตาอยู่แล้ว และต้องใส่แว่นตาอีกอันหนึ่ง ฉันรู้สึกแปลกๆ ไม่ค่อยคุ้นสักเท่าไร
หลังจากจบการฉายหนังเรื่องฮอบบิท ฉันรู้สึกชอบมาก ทั้งในการดำเนินเรื่อง และภาพต่างๆ ในแต่ละฉากที่สวยงาม โดยเฉพาะการสวมแว่นตา 3 มิติ ทำให้การดูหนังรู้สึกสนุกมากขึ้น เสมือนว่าเราเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของตัวหนัง และต่อจากนั้น เราก็ได้แยกย้ายกันกลับบ้าน
พอมาถึงบ้านฉันก็อาบน้ำ ต่อจากนั้นก็ได้นั่งอ่านหนังสือเพื่อเตรียมตัวสอบ และนั่งดูโทรทัศน์กับพี่สาวจนถึงเที่ยงคืน ฉันก็ต้องขอตัวไปเข้านอนก่อน เพราะง่วงนอนมาก
LTFWG: Just wanted to say thanks. The new addition of the audio tracks gives the posts so much more depth for a person who is seriously studying thai. The combination of thai script – translation – and now audio is extremely helpful because it allows you to sharply focus your study in one place at all 3 levels: Reading/Writing/Speaking. Prior to this, I had to go from one website to another in an effort to parse together a strong self-study regimen. The way I am using your recorded texts is to first write them out by hand in thai script; I then write them out a second time using my thai keyboard; third, I then go over the audio as many times as necessary until I can repeat it in its entirety . . . kind of like an actor learning lines. I find that this method helps with really beginning to get your mind to penetrate the language. Wish you continued good luck with your site, teaching. Thanks again! – Great help!
