Learn Thai basic greetings.  You probably already “sawasdee,” but you might not be aware that this was based on a Sanskrit word and was essentially added into the language so that Thai speakers would have formal greetings like those in English.  While there are equivalents for “good afternoon” and “good evening” and you may encounter them in tv and movies, they are not generally used.
