藪の中 Part 5 Continued (ในป่าละเมาะ)

As requested, I’m gonna keep going forward with 藪の中.   I’ll keep to shorter pieces.  If anybody wants the entire text, you can grab it here.  

  ทุกอย่างราบรื่น ข้ากลายเป็นเพื่อนร่วมทางของพวกมัน ข้าบอกพวกมันว่ามีเนินดินเก่าอยู่บนเขาถัดไปทางโน้น และข้าไปขุดเจอกระจกกับดาบจำนวนมาก ข้าเล่าต่อว่าข้าเอาของไปฝังไว้ในป่าละเมาะหลังเขา และอยากจะขายถูกๆ ให้ใครก็ตามที่อยากได้ ทีนี้…ท่านเห็นหรือยังว่าความโลภมันน่ากลัวแค่ไหน  เจ้านั่นเริ่มหลงละเมอไปกับสิ่งที่ข้าพูดโดยไม่เฉลียวใจสักนิดเดียว ไม่ถึงครึ่งชั่วโมงผัวเมียนั่นก็ขี่ม้าบ่ายหน้าไปภูเขากับข้า
    พอมาถึงหน้าป่าละเมาะ ข้าก็บอกทั้งคู่ว่าข้าฝังสมบัติไว้ในนั้น และชวนพวกมันเข้าไปดู ผู้ชายไม่ได้ว่าอะไร เพราะโดนความโลภบดบังจนตาบอด ส่วนผู้หญิงบอกว่าจะรอบนหลังม้า พอเห็นป่าทึบแบบนั้นผู้หญิงที่ไหนจะอยากเข้าไป พูดกันตามตรงนี่ก็เป็นไปตามที่ข้าวางแผนไว้ ข้าเลยเข้าไปในป่ากับผู้ชาย ส่วนผู้หญิงรออยู่ข้างนอกคนเดียว

ทุกอย่างราบรื่น everything was going smoothly

ข้ากลายเป็นเพื่อน ร่วมทางของพวกมัน

like I was becoming friends with the both of them

ข้าบอกพวกมันว่า I told them…

มีเนินดินเก่า there was an old hill

อยู่บนเขาถัดไป over on the mountain

ทางโน้น way over there

และข้าไปขุดเจอกระจก and I dug up (lots) of mirrors

กับดาบจำนวนมาก and swords

ข้าเล่าต่อว่า I continued on, explaining to them that

ข้าเอาของไปฝังไว้ I I had buried the stuff

ในป่าละเมาะ in a grove

หลังเขา behind the mountain

และอยากจะขายถูกๆ and that I was willing to sell the stuff real cheap

ให้ใครก็ตามที่อยากได้ to anyone who was interested

ทีนี้…ท่านเห็นหรือยังว่า Here,…are you getting it yet?

ความโลภมันน่ากลัวแค่ไหน greed is a pretty scary thing..

เจ้านั่นเริ่มหลงละเมอไป they were starting to believe

กับสิ่งที่ข้าพูด what I was telling them

โดยไม่เฉลียวใจ without suspecting anything สักนิดเดียว (the slightest bit)

ไม่ถึงครึ่งชั่วโมง within a half an hour

ผัวเมียนั่น the couple

ก็ขี่ม้าบ่ายหน้าไปภูเขากับข้า were on their way with me to the mountain

พอมาถึงหน้าป่าละเมาะ as soon as we got to the thicket

ข้าก็บอกทั้งคู่ว่าข้าฝังสมบัติไว้ในนั้น I told them the treasure was buried inside

และชวนพวกมันเข้าไปดู and invited them to come along and check it out

ผู้ชายไม่ได้ว่าอะไร the man said nothing

เพราะโดนความโลภบดบังจนตาบอด because he was blinded by greed

ส่วนผู้หญิงบอกว่าจะรอบนหลังม้า the woman said she would wait outside the grove

พอเห็นป่าทึบแบบนั้น Seeing the forest, as thick as it was..

ผู้หญิงที่ไหนจะอยากเข้าไป what woman would enter willingly?

พูดกันตามตรงนี่ก็เป็นไป to be frank…

ตามที่ข้าวางแผนไว้ this was just what I had planned all along

ข้าเลยเข้าไปในป่ากับผู้ชาย I entered the grove with the man

ส่วนผู้หญิงรออยู่ข้างนอกคนเดียว the woman waited outside alone
